Patented by Coppe, the sandwich duct is formed by two layers of steel, with a polymeric material in the middle. The steel gives the pipe resistance to the high pressures of the seabed and the polymer provides thermal insulation.

Operations in pre-salt projects will deal with pressures at 2,500 meters depth and temperatures ranging from 4 °C in the water to 60 °C in the oil and gas when they leave the well.

Maintaining the temperature of the oil and gas so that they do not solidify and block the pipeline is a challenge that the new pipeline concept will help address

COPPE/UFRJ hyperbaric wave energy converter – It is the first prototype of a wave energy converter installed in 2011 in Latin America.

ANEEL R&D project carried out by COPPE with support from Tracteebel energy (Engie) and the Government of the State of Ceará.

The technique for watertight repair of the polymeric layer of flexible ducts consists of a methodology to resolve damage caused to the external cover of a duct.

This technique can be applied at the location where the duct is installed.

The method of watertight repair of flexible ducts consists of applying a layer of elastomeric blanket around the pipe, using a layer of adhesive glue and, over the blanket, one or more layers of adhesive tapes are applied, more specifically, tapes anticorrosive and filament tapes and this entire set is fixed with cable ties.

The characteristic of the process of the invention lies in the fact that the method is a lightweight, resistant, watertight and easy to install repair for the emerged and submerged regions of flexible ducts and promotes the isolation of the damaged region of the duct and the tightness necessary to monitor the space annulus of this region of the duct.
